Lou Lou’s Choice is the queen of Gunbower after extending her perfect record on the regional Murray River racecourse.

For the second year in a row, the King of Prussia mare was victorious at the once-a-year race meeting beating Attaboom in the Riverland Milk & Trading BM52 (1100m).

It was a carbon copy of her win a year ago when she also outgunned Attaboom to narrowly land the Jack Styring Memorial Maiden Plate (1100m).

On Saturday ridden by Nathan Punch, Lou Lou’s Choice ($5.50) burst in front from the barriers, but her jockey Nathan Punch eased out of speed battle to give her the run of the race in third place on the rails.

Attaboom ($3.20) gave a great sight in front, but just as a year ago, was no match in the closing stages for the Jamie Edwards-trained mare who scored a long neck victory with the $2.90 Bronco Revolution favourite 2-1/4 lengths away third.

“She certainly loves the Gunbower track,” Jamie said.

“She likes to race handy, and the race could not have panned out any better for her.”

The six-year-old bounced back from a disappointing run over 1400 metres on heavy ground at Mount Gambier last start and appreciated the much firmer track and shorter trip at her favourite track.

Her win has again rewarded the patience of her owners Brian and Murray McKane who are also looking forward to the race debut of Lou Lou’s Choice’s half-sister Mo Mo’s Choise who they will race with family and friends.
