Soaring Dragon defied all his competitors in a monstrous win at Werribee in the "Tobin Brothers" 0-62 Hcp over 1600 to come from a long last to score a huge win by the nearest of margins.

When buckling out of the gates the race seemed over for this 5YO gelding by Flying Spur but due to the expertise and patience of Ryan Maloney and sheer guts from the horse himself soared around his rivals to win by a short half head.

This former city class galloper has always shown ability to trainers Jamie Edwards and Bruce Elkington but putting this ability on the track was a task due to injury and life threatening illnesses. Edwards and all the Emsley Lodge staff were just rapt  to see the horse alive and well and victory just came as a bonus to the stable and owners.

This triumph takes Soaring Dragon to his 4th win and total earnings to just under $50k which is a huge effort to both the stable and the animal.

Congratulations to owners Greeny, Barb and Brian to their patience and persistence to stick by this gelding.

Soaring Dragon will step up in distance where he can hopefully continue on with his winning form.
